277V vs 480V LED Shoebox Lights: Choosing a White 150W or 300W Parking Lot Light

White housing LED shoebox parking lot light by Ledsion, 300W/240W/200W SBC8B

Ledsion |

Choosing an LED shoebox light for a parking lot usually comes down to two questions: how much light the site needs, and what voltage is available at the pole. Ledsion's SBC8 white shoebox lights answer both questions with a simple lineup of four models: two wattage classes (150W and 300W), each offered in a 100-277V version and a 277-480V version. All four share a white housing, 5000K daylight-white output and UL & DLC certification, and they are stocked in Dallas, TX with same-day shipping. This guide walks through how to pick the right one.

Why a white housing?

Most shoebox fixtures come in dark bronze or brown. A white housing is a good fit for properties with light-colored poles, building facades or signage, where a dark fixture would stand out. Ledsion offers the same SBC8 design in brown housing, so you can match the finish to the site without changing the fixture platform.

Step 1: Match the voltage to your electrical service

Voltage is the first thing to confirm, because the wrong driver voltage means the fixture will not work on your circuit.

100-277V models

The 100-277V versions are listed as AC 120~277V / 120-277V on the product pages and carry "277V" in the SKU. They cover the standard voltages found on most commercial properties, including 120V and 277V circuits. If you are replacing fixtures at a retail center, office park, school or car dealership, this is usually the version you need.

277-480V models

The 277-480V versions run on high-voltage AC 277-480V service, which is common in industrial facilities, large distribution centers and some municipal and campus installations. These models carry "480V" in the SKU.

Rule of thumb: if your existing fixtures or panel schedule show 480V, choose a 277-480V model. If you see 120V, 208V, 240V or 277V, check that the circuit falls inside the 100-277V range and choose that version. When in doubt, have your electrician confirm the voltage at the pole before you order.

Step 2: Choose the wattage class

The 150W model

The 150W white shoebox light is the compact option for smaller lots, drive aisles, building perimeters and walkways. Its SKU (SBC8B-150/100/80W) shows the 150W, 100W and 80W wattage levels. Its product page lists:

  • Type III light distribution, with an optional shield on the 480V version
  • An optional photocell for more energy savings
  • Multiple mounts
  • Equivalent to a 300W metal halide fixture
  • UL & DLC 5.1 Premium
  • 5-year warranty

The 150W pages also list a broad range of applications, including area lighting, building exteriors and facades, campus lighting, car dealerships, parking lots, parks, roadways, street lights and warehouses.

The 300W model

The 300W white shoebox light is the higher-output option for large parking lots, roadways and wide commercial areas. One fixture covers three wattage levels: 300W, 240W and 200W. Its product page highlights:

  • 5000K daylight-white light for clear visibility
  • Energy-efficient, high-intensity illumination
  • A durable design built for harsh weather
  • Slip fitter, direct arm and yoke mounting options
  • UL & DLC certified

Typical applications listed for the 300W model are parking lots, roadways, commercial properties and public spaces such as parks and plazas.

Putting it together

  1. Confirm the voltage. Standard commercial circuits point to the 100-277V models, and 480V industrial service points to the 277-480V models.
  2. Size the output. Choose 150W for smaller areas and perimeters, and 300W for large lots and roadways.
  3. Pick the mount. The 150W model lists multiple mounts, and the 300W model offers slip fitter, direct arm and yoke options.
  4. Check certification. All four white models are UL & DLC certified, and the 150W models are listed as DLC 5.1 Premium.
  5. Order from stock. All four white models are stocked in Dallas, TX with same-day shipping, which helps when a project is on a tight schedule.
